Professor Bojan Jelaković on Excessive Salt Intake

Elevated blood pressure, known as arterial hypertension, is a major risk factor for heart, brain, and kidney diseases. It is undoubtedly the leading cause of death worldwide, including in Croatia. This "silent killer number 1" remains a significant public health challenge, and one of the key factors driving it is excessive consumption of table salt.

 

Professor Bojan Jelaković, President of the Croatian Hypertension League and the Croatian Society for Hypertension, revealed in an article that excessive salt intake reflects an unhealthy lifestyle and that by reducing its intake, we can significantly impact blood pressure control and improve our overall health.
