The Croatian Hypertension League and the Croatian Renal Association organized a public health campaign to mark World Kidney Day.
We measured blood pressure, sugar, and cholesterol levels for Members of Parliament and employees, assessed the ratio of muscle mass to fat tissue, determined albuminuria, and conducted thyroid ultrasound scans.
By identifying the risk factors for chronic kidney disease, the aim is, as every year, to raise awareness about one of the most common non-communicable diseases.
Professor Bojan Jelaković, President of the Croatian Hypertension League, emphasized that "only six percent of people are aware they have chronic kidney disease" and that "we need to talk about this throughout the year, which is why we are working on raising public awareness."
